Operation Gingerbread House 2012

As many of our friends and blog followers know, we Marshall gals have been caring on a tradition of making a Gingerbread house every December for many years. A tradition adapted by our adopted grandma, Grandma DeRoo.
Grandma and Grandpa DeRoo with their adopted granddaughters.

We  always try a new design every year, but we almost had to fall back onto a simple little house because time was running out! It was already the middle of December and we should of had a nice Gingerbread creation decorating a table in our house, but that was not the case.
Finally, we settled on Evvie's idea of  a windmill, and let her have the task of making the design. Allison and Evvie did the work of putting it together and then we all decorated a side or two. Even Sophia had a hand in the decorating process. We had to tell her that she was putting "stickers" on the house so she wouldn't just eat the candy! Yes, Sophia KNOWS what candy is!!! :D She did a great job nonetheless and the candy ended up on the house and not in her stomach. :)

Here was our finished project.
( I say was, since we've eaten it now..)

Then, the night of demolition came!
(which was long awaited by me ;))

Sophia has front row seating, and observes all the action!

Papa begins with a karate chop,

and the rest is history! And, in our belly's....
